Whenever the conversation focuses on Portuguese white wines, the main topic of conversation is the Vinho Verde region, where white wine is king, and the Alvarinho grape variety.  Over the past 20 years, Soalheiro wines and Luis Cerdeira, who is one of the oldest producers of the Monção / Melgaço subregion, are renowned for their Alvarinho wines which are elegant with mineral notes.

Starting with just Alvarinho in his portfolio, Luis Cerdeira has produced five completely different wines from across different vineyards.  Soalheiro also produces “bagaceira” (a grape mark spirit) of remarkable quality – key in highlighting that Portugal goes beyond their magnificent red wines and is a country that also offers fresh white wine with remarkable aging potential.
